The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) unveiled a new logo for their organization on the 26th April to correspond with a new direction they are taking for the 21st century.
The new logo is said to represent the iconic WIPO headquarters building in Geneva.
The color blue represents WIPO and the relationship they have with the United Nations.
The WIPO logo has evolved, in shape and color, over the past 48 years.
WIPO explains on their website that “The seven curved lines represent the seven elements of IP, as set out in the WIPO Convention:
-literary, artistic and scientific works,
-performances of performing artists, phonograms, and broadcasts,
-inventions in all fields of human endeavor,
-scientific discoveries,
-industrial designs,
-trademarks, service marks, and commercial names and designations,
-protection against unfair competition, and all other rights resulting from intellectual activity in the industrial, scientific, literary or artistic fields.”
