If you are a domainer, you want to make as much money as possible when selling a domain.
One way to do it, is simply to not do anything and wait for people to contact you.
After all, if they contact you to buy a domain you own, while you have not done anything to publicise the fact you are willing to sell, it means they are highly motivated. And highly motivated buyers mean that they are more than likely to pay top dollar for the name.
If you want to sell high, keep your profile low.
The next option is to be methodical:
1. Research what a domain is worth.
2. Research potential buyers, such as companies that are already selling/offering the goods/services that your domain is about. Do a search and check who is advertising.
3. Contact as many potential buyers as you can, via email, phone, fax, even via traditional post.
4. Encourage auction bidding for buyers interested in the domain…
and watch the domain proceeds increase.
Yes this approach is time consuming, but if you are dealing with a domain worth thousands, taking time to do the above is well worth it. Keep in mind that for best result, if you combine this with the 1st approach where you do nothing… that is wait for the 1st offer to come in and then become methodical, will yield even greater returns.
