Flying.com sells for $1.1 Million

flying.jpgUsedAirplanes.com has purchased Flying.com for $1.1 Million.

The new owners of Flying.com are currently developing the site to be launched on June 1st, 2010. The website will be used to display used airplanes and aircraft from UsedAirplanes.com. Flying.com currently states that it is “in the process of developing the first community and social media based portal for flying.”

MakeUp.com Seven Figure Sale

makeup.gifThe website, MakeUp.com recently sold for a seven figure price to makeup company L’Oreal; the domain was transferred to L’Oreal USA Creative, Inc. in early March.

Personally I think the generic domain name sold relatively low.

L’Oreal is already one of the worldwide leaders in the makeup and beauty industry and acquiring this domain name will increase the success of an already successful company.

Guns.com is third followed by Poker.org and Credit.fr in biggest sale overall this year.

alexanda.jpgAlexander McQueen, a top English fashion designer known for his amazing designs passed away on February 11th, 2010, aged 40. On the same day as his death the domain name InMemoryOfAlexanderMcQueen.com was registered and then placed on eBay for US $1,000,000. This auction was listed at 10:11am; just hours after Lee McQueen’s death was reported.

Following this trend five other Alexander McQueen inspired domain names were also listed on online auction site, eBay.com. All of the below domain names were created on the 11th, 12th or 13th of February, just days after the international designer’s death.

How much would you pay to own Toys.com?

Toys.com was sold through Bankruptcy Auction for $5.1 million dollars in March this year. This places Toys.com at the number one spot in dnjournal.com’s highest reported domain sales, so far, for 2009.

The toys store Toy ‘R’ Us purchased the domain name knowing that it had a constant flow of traffic, perfect for their brands. The domain now provides links to Toy ‘R’ Us brands: Babies ‘R’ Us, eToys.com, Baby Universe.com and Toy ‘R’ Us.
